Restructures continue to roll out

With the Centre Teaching and Learning, Academic Division and Finance and Chancellery Services organisational changes of 2014 still bedding down, the University of Newcastle has now released another.

The Organisational Change Proposal for Finance Service was released recently.

Your PSA (CPSU) delegate Michelle Woodhouse attended the staff briefing and requested that the University manages this restructure with a particular focus on:

  • internal opportunities,
  • transparent processes, and
  • training to maximise placement of affected staff.

A general meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday 18th   1-2 pm EF100c (Engineering EF Building)

The meeting will provide members an opportunity for collective discussions on the impact of the restructures. Non-members are most welcome and will be encouraged to join our union.

Members are encouraged to submit an individual response and contribute to the PSA (CPSU) formal response.

Consultative meetings

In the Professional Staff and Combined Staff Consultative forums the PSA (CPSU) has strongly defended its members still affected by the Organisational Changes of 2014. Under pressure the University has conceded that placement and recruitment practices were problematic and caused unintended stress and impact on staff.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee

Following a union win in the development of the enterprise agreement an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee will be convened. Following our nomination and selection process, the University has been advised that the PSA (CPSU) representative is Mark Smith with alternate Lillian Eastwood.
