Reclaim the Night – Sydney

The “Reclaim the Night” Rally this year in Sydney will be held at Hyde Park (North) at 6pm on Friday the 29th November.

 

Reclaim the night is a global protest for a women’s right to be free from sexual violence.

 

The first rally was held in Belgium in 1976 by women attending the International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women. They marched and held candles to protest the ways violence permeates the lives of women globally.

 

Australia’s first rally was in 1978 and continues as an annual event, demanding an acceptable response to violence against women in our community and worldwide.
