You Did It

I am very pleased to advise you that at today’s conciliation conference at the Fair Work Commission, MTC has finally conceded to the salary increases you have sought for months.

They have capitulated and agreed to increase salaries by the quantum you have demanded being :

3.25 in year one;

3.25  in year two;

3.25 in year three; and,

$2000 sign-on bonus

YOU. WON.

It seems that metaphorical bucket that kept being cited in bargaining meetings had a little more in it than we were told after all.

It also seems that the management sycophants among your colleagues who said you wouldn’t get any more are completely wrong.  Maybe they can forgo their improved increases as a concession for being false prophets.

It is a true shame it had to get to this point, that it took legal proceedings after three periods of industrial action and endless bargaining meetings for MTC to finally accept the very reasonable terms that you set, but we got there.

It demonstrates the power you have by standing together and supporting one another, even in the face of enormous personal and workplace pressure.

On behalf of the CPSU NSW Executive, can I congratulate you all on this victory, which is the biggest we have ever achieved in Parklea’s private sector operation, and in particular thank your amazing delegates Brian Kirk and Mark Ward.

You all owe them both a beer.

Also notable praise must go to your Organiser Kim Villanti and former Industrial Officer Jessica Epps who have been tireless in advocating for you.

We will now finalise the drafting with MTC, and have the agreement circulated for ballot at the earliest opportunity.

Should you vote to accept it (and we would recommend you do) then it will go to the Commission for approval before it comes into force.

Once again, well done.  It was a tough fight but you made it.  There is power in the Union!
