Pressing on

CPSU NSW members may recall that your union lodged an application in the Fair Work Commission late last month to seek their assistance in the dispute regarding your Enterprise Agreement.

This was limited to conciliation – effectively the Commissioner facilitating negotiations in an attempt to find a mutually acceptable deal.

At our appearance on 1 June 2023, MTC made a relatively uninspiring offer which the Commissioner urged us to have you ate least consider. That offer was, in effect, take what they have previously offered in terms of pay and no JWCC representation, and we will agree to have the Commission later arbitrate the difference.

We reluctantly agreed to take this back to you and conducted a ballot between 5 and 13 June 2023.

That offer was overwhelmingly rejected by you with 86.9 per cent of respondents voting against it.

We have notified the Fair Work Commission accordingly and have a second attempt at conciliation listed for Tuesday 27 June 2023.

We will keep you informed of developments.
