CPSU NSW update: Southern Cross University

We write to you to provide an update on the SCU Enterprise Agreement and to reflect on today’s announcement by the University of payroll discrepancies amounting to $951,000 in unpaid wages to some current and former staff.

As a union, like you no doubt, we are disappointed, angry and upset that this has occurred. It is simply not acceptable. We do, however, appreciate the collaborative and transparent manner in which the University is now addressing these underpayment along with the fact they self-reported the underpayment to the Fair Work Commission. We will work with management to ensure that the administrative and training deficiencies clearly underpinning this issue are effectively and immediately resolved.

We understand this news may be distressing and we encourage all members, and potential members, to contact the CPSU NSW for support.

Enterprise Agreement Update

As you may be aware the Enterprise Agreement is currently before the Fair Work Commission (FWC) for approval. The significant delays to this process are a direct result of objections lodged by the NTEU. We are disheartened by their actions in relation to this just as we are disheartened by their ongoing need to disparage our CPSU NSW delegates and members in their communications to staff.

The CPSU NSW continues to strongly advocate for our members, including with respect to salary increases, and we will update all members as soon as a decision is published by the FWC.
