CLA Roster Changes

The union has been made aware of several changes to the CLA roster, most notably with respect to the number of ERT staff in Male Maximum.

The union was not made of aware of these changes, and we understand that Serco had one conversation with ERT concerning the changes before they were implemented. Last Thursday’s incident was a direct consequence of these changes.

Serco has an obligation to consult with affected members and the union regarding any major changes at work, which includes the composition of the roster. It is our view that affected employees include CCOs and ERT. As a result, we have lodged a dispute with Serco regarding the new roster, which you can read here.

The union will be on-site next week to discuss the roster changes with members, and to undertake a WHS inspection. If you were impacted by last week’s incident and need help from us, please give Jess or Kim a call on 0401 521 561 or 0408 249 277.

It is our view the decision by the General Manager to unilaterally change the roster without giving any thought to how this would impact on the safety of the staff is at best careless and at worst grossly negligent. Consequently, we have drafted a statement that we would like members to read and sign if they agree with it. You can access this statement here:. By signing the statement, your anonymity will be completed protected. We are not asking anybody to give their name, only that you select ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to indicate whether you support the motion or not.

As always, if you have any questions or need to talk to the union, give us a call or send an email to or .
