Yesterday, the union (delegates and officials) met with MTC in relation to the Enterprise Agreement. The union has always been committed to bargaining in good faith, notwithstanding the fact that there has been little progress made with respect to the EA for some time now.
Prior to notifying MTC of any further industrial action, we sought to meet with MTC in order to see if we could come to some sort of resolution without having to take further action. As a result, the union tabled the following two options to MTC to see whether they would be willing to consider them:
Option 1
Option 2
MTC didn’t give an answer immediately but said that they would consider what the union had tabled and report back this Friday.
We will therefore meet with MTC again on Friday morning and will advise members immediately afterwards as to what MTC’s feedback is regarding the two offers tabled.
If MTC accepts either or both options, we will put a survey out for members to complete to make sure that a majority of members are happy with any potential offer/offers. If MTC rejects the union’s offer and instead maintains their position from last year – that being 2.5 per cent per annum over 4 years – then the union will consider further action.
We will consult with members regardless of what happens on Friday, as whatever happens moving forward will be decided by the membership. This is your EA, and you decide what happens next.
Again, we will send out another bulletin on Friday. However, if you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Brian Kirk or Mark Ward, or call Jess on 0401 521 561 or Kim on 0408 249 277.
