Parklea Enterprise Agreement update: Protected action ballot commences today

Last week, the Fair Work Commission approved the union’s application for a protected industrial action ballot. This ballot is being sent out by Vero Voting to all members today. You should receive this link via text and email, and you are able to vote online.

It is important that everybody votes to take protected industrial action, and that you vote as soon as you can. If you are a member of the union and haven’t received a ballot link, please contact the union by sending an email to , or by contacting Vero Voting directly on 1300 702 898.

The voting link itself will take you to a list of questions. It is important that you select ‘yes’ for every option. This doesn’t mean that we will end up taking all forms of protected industrial action in the ballot but voting yes to every question leaves the option open to take that form of action if it is necessary.

Remember, MTC has stated consistently that ‘the offer is the offer’. It is clear MTC believes you are worth 2.5 per cent and not a cent more. This attitude will not change by negotiations alone. The only way that we will be able to achieve a higher pay increase for members at PKA is by taking protected industrial action. Once the ballot is concluded and a majority of members have voted in support of taking protected action, we will be able to notify MTC of our intention to take this action.

The union will be on-site on Monday morning, so if you have any questions regarding the ballot or what taking protected industrial action means for you, we can answer any and all questions that you have. In the meantime, if you would like to discuss the ballot with the union before then, you can send an email to or , or call Jess on 0401 521 561 or Kim on 0408 249 277.
