As you may be aware, the five-year term of Copied State Awards (including the Community Living Award) will end on 1 December 2022. The CPSU NSW was due to meet with ConnectAbility Monday 24 October 2022. However, this was postponed at ConnnectAbility’s request as the organisation prepares additional information for discussion with the union..
Disability Support Workers (DSW) have been advised by ConnectAbility that DSWs will be offered new contracts of employment and position descriptions in the week of 14 November 2022.
It’s important you keep copies of all your employment documentations, your current contract, PD and pay slips.
As a member of the CPSU NSW, you are a member of a strong union that will take legal action to protect members’ pay. The Fair Work Act provides protection of workers’ pay rates by way of a Take Home Pay Order. The CPSU NSW will make an application for a take home pay order for members who have been moved onto employment contracts and have an actual reduction in their take home pay.
The CPSU NSW can only represent CPSU NSW members in a case for a take home pay order. Its important that you are a member and that tell your fellow Disability Workers to join the CPSU NSW. It’s in Disability Workers’ best interests to join the CPSU NSW to protect their pay in such a critical time of change.
The CPSU NSW will continue do everything we can to protect and promote the employment interests of disability services staff in NSW.
