University of Wollongong enterprise bargaining update

Yesterday, your CPSU NSW bargaining team met with UOW representatives for our fourth enterprise bargaining meeting. Each of these meetings runs for two hours.

Disappointingly the entire meeting was, once again, focused on bargaining protocols. While the discussions were robust, we had hoped to finalise arrangements to support the bargaining process moving forward to allow us to get on with the real business of negotiating a new Enterprise Agreement for professional staff. Unfortunately, it looks like it might take a further meeting to finalise resourcing arrangements and negotiating protocols.

At issue is how best to support the staff bargaining representatives and the business units impacted by their preparation and attendance at bargaining sessions. We want to ensure business units receive funding to support staff involved in bargaining.

The CPSU NSW remains hopeful that we can resolve this sticking point and turn our attention to more substantive negotiations.
