The CPSU NSW Assistant Secretary, Troy Wright, has written to disability service providers in NSW ahead of the anticipated expiry of Copied State Awards from September this year.
The Fair Work Act 2009 provides a nominal life for Copied State Awards such as the Community Living Award (CLA), of five years from the date services were transferred from the NSW Government provider (FACS/ADHC) to non-government service providers.
Copied State Awards are set to expire with LiveBetter and Ability Options (Mid North Coast) on 6 September, Aruma on 5 October, and Connectability, Finding Yellow and Ability Options (Hunter region) on 1 December 2022. The remaining providers’ Copied State Awards are all due to expire in 2023.

A CPSU NSW update issued to members on 13 July 2022 outlines the mechanism in the Fair Work Act that provides protection of workers’ pay rates by way of a Take Home Pay Order. To read that bulletin click HERE.
The CPSU NSW will continue do everything we can to protect and promote the employment interests of disability services staff in NSW.
For further information, contact the CPSU NSW on 1300 772 679 and ask to speak with one of our dedicated disability services staff.
