UTS bargaining update

The UTS branch of CPSU NSW has been bargaining with the university and the NTEU for some time now. We continue to pursue job security and the redistribution of workload as priority issues for Professional Staff who have to cope with increased workloads in the aftermath of redundancies.

The CPSU NSW is pushing for a consultation process, which genuinely gives Professional Staff a say in changes to their department. UTS however wants an approach that will explicitly eliminate the university’s accountability when it comes to consulting with – and listening to – affected staff.

We firmly believe participation in problem-solving conversations early on in the change process with people who actually do the work is the best way to identify durable, cost-effective solutions that work for staff and the university community they support.

We won’t be settling for a second-rate process that promotes poor management, constant disruption and organisational dysfunction. Enough is enough.

Our membership numbers across the university directly translate to our power and a strong voice for Professional Staff at the bargaining table. Help us secure proper consultation – tell your colleagues to join the CPSU NSW today!
