Update: TAFE KPI Dispute

The CPSU NSW recently lodged a dispute with respect to the proposed implementation of KPIs in the Student Services Branch. It was brought to our attention that SSB were proposing to introduction a variety of KPIs for employees, despite not having been consulted upon. Moreover, the nature of the KPIs led to several concerns for many members, including how the KPIs were decided upon and what would happen to employees if they did not meet their KPIs. TAFE NSW employees are under enough pressure as it is at the moment given the recent restructures without the introduction of KPIs.

The CPSU NSW (officials and delegates) met with TAFE NSW earlier in the week to discuss the dispute. Put simply, the CPSU NSW stated that TAFE NSW has an obligation to consult on the introduction of change to the business under the Enterprise Agreement, and that there should be consultation on KPIs if TAFE NSW really want to introduce such measures. TAFE NSW have agreed and stated that KPIs would be put on hold pending a consultative process around KPIs.

The CPSU NSW will likely meet with TAFE NSW next week to discuss these KPIs, and all CPSU NSW delegates who are able to attend will do so. The CPSU NSW is strongly opposed to KPIs, and this will be made clear to TAFE NSW. We expect that, if a consultation process if to take place, we will be given the opportunity to speak to as many members as possible about this, and subsequently pass this feedback on to TAFE NSW.

We will keep members updated by sending out a bulletin once we have met with TAFE NSW, but if you have any feedback or concerns regarding KPIs in the meantime you are encouraged to speak directly with your CPSU NSW delegate, or to get in touch with the CPSU NSW.
