Your union, the CPSU NSW, has been discussing the proposed extended close down over the Christmas New Year period (24 December – 7 January) for some time with management.
We believe that although the Vice Chancellor may approve the annual close-down of all or part of the university during the Christmas/New Year period (clause 51.3 of the Charles Sturt University Enterprise Agreement 2018-2021) it does not give the right to extend into January and force staff to take leave at a time that may not be suitable for their circumstances
Therefore, a dispute was raised jointly by both unions and a meeting was held with CSU management on Tuesday 24 August to discuss.. Management listened to the concerns raised by both unions regarding what is proposed however made no comment and advised they will come back with an outcome.
