Northcott: Rostering issues

PDF version

Members continue to raise concerns around rostering issues. Here are some facts and information on what you should do.

There are two main areas of concern:

  • Early Implementation of new EA rosters, i.e. the roster is in effect now
  • Consultation and reasonable shifts.

Until the Enterprise Agreement is approved by the Fair Work Commission, consultation and preparation of a Master Roster may occur. However, current rosters need to comply with rostering principles contained in the CLA for transferred staff.

If you do not believe that your roster complies with the CLA, check it against the rostering principles. Ask a Delegate for help or contact the CPSU NSW. Make sure you email your Service Coordinator advising what the problem is.

If your proposed Master Roster looks problematic for you, for example you are put on a new shift which you can’t do due to family commitments, you need to send an email to your Service Coordinator stating your problem. If you have a suggestion that would fix the problem, include that in your email. If the issue isn’t addressed properly ask your Service Coordinator why they can’t fix it. Ask for their response in email, this way the CPSU NSW can more easily escalate the matter on your behalf.
