Australian Catholic University: CPSU NSW Recovery Budget Response

Bulletin – Nov 2020 (PDF version)

The CPSU NSW has been made aware of a National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU)-sponsored letter about the budget consultation. The CPSU NSW is currently working on a response to the budget based on our members’ feedback, which requires a different approach to the NTEU.

The CPSU NSW is advocating that the university surveys workers and looks at the management of other conditions such as flexibility within the current enterprise agreement. Your union believes savings could be made if properly administered. The CPSU NSW is keen to engage in ongoing consultation to protect your jobs.

The CPSU NSW is basing our actions and feedback on our members. Because of this, the CPSU NSW is advising members not to sign the NTEU letter. We will be holding a meeting next week to discuss this further. If the CPSU NSW members decide to seek a postponement of the recovery budget, it is best if letters come from both unions.

Feel free to send this to your colleagues to let them know of the CPSU NSW’s stance, and encourage them to join up with the union for ONLY professional staff – the one which ensures your voice is the loudest.
