CPSU NSW to fight $28 000 pay cut for Team Leaders

CPSU NSW to fight $28,000 pay cut for Team Leaders

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU NSW) has lodged a dispute with the Fair Work Commission in a bid to stop Northcott slashing Team Leader wages by up to $28 000 a year.

The legal action follows confirmation from Northcott of plans to dump the classification and instead create a “new” lower paid Service Coordinator position in place of Team Leaders.

The CPSU NSW’s view is that the work proposed to be done by Service Coordinators is substantially the same as the work that is currently done by Team Leaders and would continue to be done, in most cases, by transferred former FACS staff.

The union has received legal advice that seeking to replace Team Leaders with Service Coordinators could amount to an attempt to circumvent legal obligations under the Fair Work Act 2009 intended to protect the employment interests of transferred public sector staff.

The CPSU NSW will also challenge attempts to reclassify Disability Support Workers as Northcott Support Workers as the position of Northcott Support Worker is not a classification under the Community Living Award 2018 (now a copied state award).
