Additional Funding Needed to Support Success at Parklea – CPSU NSW
The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU NSW) has written to the NSW Inspector of Corrective Services (ICS), following a meeting with our local representatives.
The CPSU NSW believes many of the current operational challenges at Parklea were apparent during GEO’s tenure and were not appropriately addressed by the Department of Corrective Services when the agency negotiated new contractual arrangements with MTC-Broadspectrum.
In our correspondence to the ICS we note a range of issues that were either present or reasonably foreseeable prior to the transition between GEO and MTC-Broadspectrum. Click HERE for a link to our letter.
While we believe the current problems confronting the centre are fixable, all require funding and a genuine commitment from the NSW Government to achieve a best practice outcome.
We hope ICS gives careful consideration to the simple suggestions in our submission when the agency reports to government.
