SCU security incident yesterday

Security incident – Sept 2019 (PDF version)

The CPSU NSW monitored the security incident yesterday as it unfolded, with hopes there were no negative outcomes. Fortunately, the threat passed without injury.

Despite no-one being physically hurt, these incidents may trigger ill-effects on some coworkers, so please check in with your workmates. If you do not think that your workmates are OK, help them to reach out for support at the RUOK website HERE. See the CPSU NSW factsheet HERE.

The university has made counselling available. Members are encouraged to take this up if required.

These incidents also offer a good opportunity to review how the safety and security systems work and make any improvements as necessary. Therefore, the CPSU NSW will help the university review the incident from a safety-and-security perspective in consultation with staff as is required under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW).
