CPSU NSW – The union for you – April 2019 (PDF version)
There is no question disability services in NSW have undergone massive changes with the introduction of the NDIS and the transfer of publically operated accommodation services to the non-government sector in recent years.
Yet throughout the uncertainty and change, one thing remains the same – the CPSU NSW is here for you!
The CPSU NSW is the largest union in the disabilities sector, with a proud history of standing up for the rights of disability workers.
The employment conditions negotiated by the CPSU NSW are consistently superior to other arrangements in the sector. We plan to keep it that way, and at the same time improve pay and conditions for all disability workers in NSW.
However, we can only achieve this goal by being united, being strategic and building our bargaining power by growing union membership.
In the not too distant future, we expect to begin negotiating a new enterprise agreement with Northcott to replace your copied state award.
When we are bargaining we know the best results are achieved when workers work together.
We’ve heard rumours Northcotts want to use the enterprise bargaining process to divide and conquer – by using one employee group (pre-existing and new staff) against another (former FACS staff) to undermine the bargaining power of all its workers.
If it’s true, this divisive strategy is intended to reduce employee related costs and erode employment conditions. Don’t be fooled.
The CPSU NSW is working on a united bargaining strategy to improve employment conditions for all disability workers. We’ll be meeting with the unions who represent other Northcott staff to develop, we hope, a comprehensive plan to take to the bargaining table.
