Members – the union depends on you to be the ears n eyes on the ground in the workplace.
Some managers like to make statements to get a feel for the response or simply to create unrest. When members attend meetings or hear of matters that might affect members in their workplace, or if something doesn’t seem correct then ask for it in writing or contact your local delegate.
The union generally finds it difficult to respond adequately and the best interests of the membership, to hearsay or rumours. This is because if we make representations to management based on rumours we have received; more often than not, they will claim they have been misheard.
So that’s why we need it written down.
