Directions to use your own leave

CPSU NSW members told their union many of the non-government disability providers have been directing staff to use their own leave when they cannot meet contracted hours.

Your employer cannot do this; they are required to pay you for your contracted hours. If they cannot give you enough work to cover your contracted hours, they still have to pay you. They cannot force staff to take their own leave to fill the gap.

The CPSU NSW has been addressing this issue on a case-by-case basis as it arises. If this is happening to you, please contact your Local Delegate, the CPSU NSW Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679 or email .
