House With No Steps roster changes – May 2018 (PDF version)
The CPSU NSW have been advised that HWNS has proposed some drastic changes to the master roster, which will result in a loss of hours for Group Homes across the southern NSW region. Some of these changes will result in staff to client ratio being 1-to-5 during busy periods such as morning and evening routines.
Members have advised there has been a lack of consultation on these proposed changes. There are concerns for staff work health and safety as well as the safety of the clients. There has been little or no response from HWNS.
The CPSU NSW is horrified that not only have staff not been properly consulted, but nor have the their union on these proposed changes to the master roster.
The CPSU NSW believes HWNS, in not consulting, is in breach of members’ employment conditions as outlined in The Crown Employees Ageing Disability and Home Care NSW Department of Family and Community Services (Community Living Award) 2015, as well as the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW).
As such, the CPSU NSW has written to HWSN requesting these proposed changes not be implemented until they have consulted properly with staff and the union.
If members have any information in relation to these proposed changes, or changes in other regions, please contact the CPSU NSW on 1300 772 679 or email .
