TAFE NSW SkillPoints bulletin – April 2017 (PDF version)

This week the Minister announced the Industry Focus and Location of the nine SkillsPoints Headquarters for TAFE NSW.

As you are probably aware, these are:

Regional

  • Innovative Manufacturing, Robotics and Science in Newcastle
  • Agribusiness in Griffith
  • Career Pathways, Aboriginal Languages and Employability Skills in Tamworth
  • Health, Wellbeing and Community Services in Queanbeyan
  • Supply Chain and eCommerce in Dubbo
  • Tourism and Experience Services in Coffs Harbour.

Metro

  • Creative and Design Ideation in Parramatta
  • Infrastructure, Energy and Construction in Mount Druitt
  • Technology and Business Services in Ultimo.

Your union has been briefed and we understand that no individuals are impacted at this point in time. We have also been advised that although the headquarters are going to be located in these areas, it does not mean all staff will have to locate there. While there are small teams at each location, other staff should be able to work virtually.

We appreciate TAFE Worker Level 5 (previously Clerk 5/6) positions will be most impacted, but until the decision is made around how these SkillsPoints will look, we do not know exactly what the impact will be. We do, however, know it will happen this year.

You have been asked to supply comment on the decision and how you and your colleagues will be affected. We urge you to provide your feedback.
