TAFE NSW Finance review

TAFE NSW finance review – February 2017 (PDF version)

As you are aware, TAFE NSW has decided – as a result of feedback – to widen the scope of the Finance Review and include another 17 positions, which will extend the consultation period.

We understand that if your position has been affected as one of the 17, you will have had a meeting in the last week with your local HR representative.

Your union met with management on 16 February to discuss issues around the widening of the scope. We are deeply concerned that newly affected members have had only one week to consider the review and respond. We are also concerned TAFE NSW has accessed funding for training for affected and/or displaced staff through smart and skilled. smart and skilled funding is only available to NSW residents, so members living across the border in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia or the ACT cannot access the funding.

We raised these concerns with management and stressed the importance of extending the timeframe for feedback, as well as ensuring these extra staff now affected get access to the same information as staff in the original scope of the review. Newly affected staff should get a roadshow as well.

We will inform you when we have received a response from TAFE NSW in regard to our concerns.
