TAFE Illawarra member update

TAFE Illawarra member update – January 2017 (PDF version)

Ms Sharon Hillman

The PSA was saddened to learn of the death of member and past delegate Ms Sharon Hillman on New Year’s Eve.

Sharon was employed at TAFE for 35 years and during that time worked closely with many members and staff. She was knowledgeable, hardworking and always took the extra step to provide excellent customer service advice.

In the last few years, Sharon worked as WHS support person, Capability Development Manager and Workforce Relations Manager. Her knowledge of TAFE and its policies was remarkable and she was always willing to share this knowledge with others.

Sharon has been described by her friends as loyal, the life of the party, a jokester and a great friend. Sharon’s own tongue in cheek description of herself was that she was the best dressed woman in TAFE, as evidenced by the fact that the staff in her favourite clothing shop knew her by her first name.

Sharon’s friendship and support for those she came into contact with positively influenced their lives in many ways. She will be sadly missed not only by her friends and family but also by those of us from the PSA (CPSU) who knew her and enjoyed her warm and caring personality.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Sharon’s family.

The PSA (CPSU) continues to support  members and we urge you to make use of the counselling services available if necessary.

Illawarra TAFE local delegate Brad Cowie can be contacted in regard to your union concerns.
