Pay Rise – Industrial Action
The University has moved slightly on their pay offer, claiming that the Unions’ ‘misunderstood’ their previous offer. We didn’t misunderstand, the University just changed their minds.
Their offer now is:
2% for 2013 (1.5% already paid)
2% for 2014
2% for 2015
and an indication that this could be increased, subject to further negotiation, at the next meeting.
As CPSU members, do you want to lodge an application for industrial action in case the pay rise offer doesn’t get increased, or do you want us to wait until the next EB meeting? The next meeting is on the 9th July. Visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/67ZZ389 to let us know.
Professional & General Staff Development Fund
A Professional & General Staff Development Fund, equal to 1% of general staff salaries, is being discussed. The negotiators are looking at skills development and training for areas outside of your area of work, and unrelated to your current job. This may be able to qualify you to a career change in this University or elsewhere. This is in addition to the current local staff training funds in your area.
This would impact on pay rises. A staff development fund equal to 1% of general staff salaries, would reduce the total pay rise by between 0.5% and 1% per year.
The University seems to be offering at least an extra 0.5% on top of the 2% per year in pay rises instead of a general staff central development fund (which is in addition to the funds already available).
Please let us know what you want, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/67ZZ389 to have your say and we will argue for whatever members’ tell us to argue for.
