I hope all members have a relaxing long weekend. For those working through the break, thank you for your work on behalf of the people of NSW.
Together we can overturn the State Government’s unfair and unjust wages cap.
The Premier, Dominic Perrottet, has not responded to our demands, nor made any public statements about ending the wages cap. This means we must keep on campaigning.
Thank you to all our members who joined us at the campaign meetings in Newcastle and Gosford, as well as online workplace group, Departmental Committee, Vocational Branch and Advisory Group meetings. It was great to talk to members determined to end the wages cap and to hear their feedback on the campaign.
For our members in Wollongong, there is a meeting at City Diggers at 5:30pm on 20 April. Come along and hear from myself and PSA/CPSU NSW President Nicole Jess about what scrapping the wages cap will mean for you, as well as the effect fair wages will have on the Illawarra and South Coast economy.
The Wollongong meeting will be followed by meetings in Dubbo on 27 April and Bathurst on 28 April. Assistant General Secretary Troy Wright will be in attendance.
Watch out for meeting announcements in May for Wagga Wagga and Windsor. Keep an eye out, too, for bulletins advertising campaign meetings online or at your workplace.
There is power in a union. PSA/CPSU NSW members can work together and overturn the wages cap and ensure we keep up with the rising cost of living.
Yours in union,
Stewart Little
