Draft Blueprint for Academic Workforce and Future Planning

Your union representatives from the CPSU NSW met with the Macquarie University Executive on the 26 March 2025 to discuss the Draft Blueprint Paper of Academic Workforce and Future Planning, which was released on the 3 March 2025.

The draft blueprint’s framework is broad and general and the paper itself doesn’t identify any specific impact on positions or people. If the university later decides to make changes which affect members’ jobs or work arrangements, this will be done through the  Change Management Process under the Enterprise Agreement.

The university has confirmed the CPSU NSW’s understanding that the blueprint paper is primarily about academic staff, but the university is considering any impacts that changes to academic staff will have on professional staff.

The university has provided staff a feedback link to make comments or raise any concerns and have until 30 March 2025 to do so. The CPSU NSW encourages all members to use the feedback link and engage with the process if you have not submitted a response already.

Macquarie University has also confirmed that they will be releasing a separate Draft Blueprint Paper for Professional Workforce in the future. The union has sought a timeline on when the University will release this  paper and while they don’t yet have a date, they have agreed to provide more information as soon as possible.

The CPSU NSW will be sure to contact members with more information when it comes to us.

If you have any questions or concerns, you are welcome to contact the CPSU NSW by calling 1800 772 679 or reaching out to your local Delegates.
