Interest Based Bargaining – JOINT COMMUNICATION
The Interest-based Bargaining Committee (IBB) met at Ultimo TAFE on 14 August 2023 to reconvene bargaining for the new enterprise agreement.
The subject of the bargaining meeting was as follows:
Gender Affirmation leave
The parties considered the approaches of other tertiary institutions in relation to gender affirmation leave. TAFE NSW and CPSU will continue discussions regarding a potential clause out of session.
Job security
The parties agreed job security was a joint interest. The parties have agreed to continue discussions on the process for converting casual and temporary employment to ongoing permanent employment.
Workload pressures
A process of managing and reviewing workloads was discussed as well as an escalation process if workload concerns remain unresolved at a supervisor level. Approaches taken by other tertiary institutions were considered. This will be further discussed at the next bargaining meeting.
Parental leave
Work is to be undertaken on the drafting of an updated clause.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leave
The parties considered the approaches of other tertiary institutions. This will be further discussed at the next bargaining meeting.
Bargaining discussions are progressing efficiently. The parties now understand the key issues moving forward and will continue to exchange information and work together as they endeavour to reach agreement.
The CPSU NSW will hold a members’ meeting in upcoming weeks. Information will be provided as soon as possible.
The parties will meet again on 29 and 30 August 2023 to continue bargaining.
