Macquarie University Enterprise Bargaining

The CPSU NSW met with University bargaining representatives on Thursday 16 March.

As foreshadowed at the previous meeting, the University made a presentation which has provided the most comprehensive response to Union bargaining claims since bargaining commenced in April 2022.

This included the following salary offer:

  • 5 per cent salary increase on approval of the new enterprise agreements by staff
  • 3.5 per cent salary increase effective in 2024 (effective 12 months after the previous increase)
  • 3 per cent salary increase effective in 2025 (effective 12 months after the previous increase)
  • An administrative salary increase of 2 per cent was paid in 2022.

This offer was made within a framework for concluding bargaining in which the University identified the matters with which it could and could not agree.

Within this framework, the University has indicated that it has agreed with some of the CPSU NSW claims including improved domestic violence leave; parental leave and special leave provisions, but there are number of provisions of concern to professional staff including job security, workload and managing change which are yet to be resolved. The University has now agreed to continue discussions on these matters, and a more intensive schedule of meetings to conclude a new Agreement is being developed.

The University is to write to the CPSU NSW confirming the details contained in its presentation.
