The introduction of LMBR components at the same time as the new State Government “Smart and Skilled” funding model, has had a significant impact on staff and students across TAFE NSW. Restructures, as well as a lack of procedures and direction, have created an unacceptable working environment.

Your union has listened to members who are angry and want a forum to address the loss of jobs as well as identify what we can do as a group to let the community and students know what’s happening to TAFE under the NSW Government “Smart and Skilled” model.

In response, the PSA/CPSU has developed a specific training program for delegates, contacts and members interested in the creation of a NCI TAFE Local Campaign Action Group (LCAG).

The TAFE LCAG will be based on the very successful model that the PSA has used in the fight against privatisation of the Department of Aged, Disability and Home Care. It will be member based and activist driven in response to your demand for an inclusive role. A similar group has been set up in the Hunter and has been out talking to the community in local electorates to capitalise on the upcoming NSW state election.

Come along to the members meeting Tuesday 17 March to learn more and register your interest.

We will then conduct training, set campaign goals, develop campaign strategies and identify target groups – all the things that we need to get the message out about what Smart and Skilled really means for the community!
