IT AIN’T OVER TIL IT’S OVER

It aint over til its over

Well what was that all about?

Your CPSU NSW representatives and Delegates told Serco until we were blue in our faces that $26.88 per hour was not enough.

You told them it was not enough, with 82 per cent of employees who voted rejecting the offer.

Serco claimed it was its only possible offer and contingent upon accepting the Enterprise Agreement as proposed.

And then it paid it anyway.

Confused? It is clear what Serco has in mind.

This is hush money.

Serco thinks that by unilaterally raising your pay, above the legal minimum wage for the industry, but nowhere near what your counterparts in other centres are paid, you will go away and be thankful.

Serco thinks by unilaterally raising your pay, you will forget that it could have done so at any point this year during bargaining or even since it opened. But Serco chose not to.

Serco thinks by unilaterally raising your pay, you will abandon your plans to take industrial action.

Serco thinks by unilaterally raising your pay, that the fair Enterprise Agreement which includes other conditions parental leave, allowances and rostering protections, and that you deserve is now not necessary.

Your union says we don’t let them off the hook that easily.

We will know this weekend the results of the Protected Action Ballot Order (PABO) and will advise members immediately. Our thanks to those who have voted.

In the meantime, we have written to Serco demanding it returns to the bargaining table as can be seen HERE.

This isn’t over.  We are just beginning.

Further, we have also written to Serco demanding a strategy for you to be vaccinated against COVID-19 which can be viewed HERE

Your geographic isolation may have not seen an outbreak around you, however your connectedness to the correctional system places you at grave danger.

We have had in the last fortnight confirmed cases in both adult and juvenile custody. CSNSW and Broadspectrum have been on the front foot in facilitating access for their staff to be vaccinated to a degree Serco has not. This needs to be acted upon immediately.

We will keep members advised of developments. In the meantime, please stay safe and do not hesitate to contact either your workplace delegates or the CPSU NSW direct for any concerns.
