Parklea Enterprise Agreement Update

Yesterday, the union met with MTC regarding the EA. At the last meeting, MTC were advised that the union was considering further industrial action, and that this would go ahead unless MTC came to the table with a better offer.

MTC consequently tabled the following offer:

  • A 3-year EA.
  • 3.75 per cent in the first year (which includes the 0.5 per cent superannuation guarantee).
  • 3.65 per cent in the second year (again, including the 0.5 per cent superannuation increase).
  • 3.5 per cent in the third year (including superannuation).
  • A $1500 sign-on bonus.

In total, the wage increase equals a 9.4 per cent wage increase, up from the original offer of 7.5 per cent over three years.

The union advised that members had endorsed 4 per cent per annum (or 3.5 per cent + superannuation) plus a sign-on bonus, but that we would take it out to the members to seek feedback regardless. As such, we will meet with staff after parade on Wednesday 15 February 2023 and Thursday 16 February 2023. Like last time, we will also put out a survey to all members to seek feedback. We will then meet with MTC on Friday to give the company the members’ feedback.

We will send out a text on tomorrow afternoon with a link to a survey, where you can indicate whether you support or reject the latest offer from MTC. That means that, if you aren’t on shift tomorrow and Thursday, you can still have your say.

If you would like to talk to someone from the union in the meantime, please contact Mark Ward or Brian Kirk. You can also call Jess on 0401 521 561 or Kim on 0408 249 277.
