CPSU NSW Update: ConnectAbility restructures Community Living


ConnectAbility advised affected staff on 11 January 2023, by letter and in a meeting that there would be a restructure of positions in Community Living. The Team Leader and Cluster Leader positions will be made redundant and replaced by several new positions called Operations Lead.

This notice commenced a three week consultation period with staff and the unions. The CPSU attended the meeting with affected staff on 11 January 2023 and 18 January 2023 to advise of the change. The CPSU also held meetings of members following the staff meetings. Further the CPSU is also attending individual meetings of members with management.

The letter advised affected staff they must choose their preference by 30 January 2023. The options for affected staff are;

  • Apply for the new position of Operations Lead,
  • Express interest in a disability support worker with a retention bonus or
  • Express interest a voluntary redundancy.

The CPSU consulted with members and sent management their Questions and Answers. The answers from ConnectAbility can be found here.

Management have also sent a Questions and Answers to affected staff.

The CPSU will continue to consult with ConnectAbility and advocate for members and would like to hear any from member who need additional support in this process.
