We are back in business!

It has been a wild few months.  Statewide lockdowns, a former Premier’s love interest landing her in ICAC and Centrelink simultaneously, and the unwanted return of Hey Hey its Saturday.

But in a sign things are returning to normal and that nature is finally healing, we are about to resume enterprise bargaining discussions for CCO’s with Serco next week.

Members will recall that the first and only offer from Serco was strongly and rightly rejected overwhelmingly by staff as inadequate.

Members may also recall that the postal ballot on industrial action held in July failed due to an insufficient number of votes being returned.

This has left the parties at an uncomfortable stalemate.

Nonetheless with travel restrictions now lifted, the CPSU NSW has secured a meeting with Serco to attempt to forge a compromise in the form of an agreement that better remunerates you for the work you perform and better compensates you for the risks you take every day, while also addressing the company’s issues with recruitment and retention.

Representatives from the CPSU NSW including Industrial Officer Jessica Epps and AGS Troy Wright will be on site for the morning muster on Thursday 11 November 2021 to report back from the meeting and take any questions.

Further, we are still waiting for a decision from the Fair Work Commission regarding the application to bargaining for Correctional Supervisors but expect this to be handed down any day and can update members when this arrives.

Your work during the last few months in containing the risks of the pandemic has been appreciated by everyone across the State.  Hopefully now Serco can see fit to financially reward you accordingly.
