Extension – March 2021 (PDF version)
On Tuesday 2 March CPSU NSW representative argued TAFE NSW needed to recognise that employees affected by both the Student Services Branch (SSB) and Facilities Management & Logistics (FM&L) are overworked and in many cases are not able to properly engage in the consultation process about their future employment. We argued we needed more consultation time to digest the proposed plan.
We are pleased TAFE has now agreed to a further two weeks’ consultation. This will allow us to obtain feedback from our members, work through and address individual matters, concerns and questions, ensure members are supported, and submit our own feedback.
It remains concerning to us that many matching and placement decisions appear inconsistent and difficult to understand, we have flagged dispute proceedings and will provide further updates to members as these developments unfold.
The extension of the consultation period also gives us more time to continue to campaign against the devastating impact these TAFE cuts will have on the NSW economy, especially in rural and regional NSW and especially at a time when the Government should be investing in skills and supporting vulnerable jobs and communities.
