Mercer members: What issues do you want raised?

Mercer members: What issues do you want raised? – September 2018 (PDF version)

The CPSU NSW has quarterly Joint Consultative Committee meetings with management at Mercer.

We have two staff representatives, the CPSU NSW Organiser and Industrial Officer in attendance at these meetings.

Issues that affect staff such as change management, restructuring, policy reviews and updates or any significant events concerning staff in general or in a particular area can be brought to the table.

An example of a collective issue in Mercer at the beginning of this year was that staff were experiencing difficulties in accessing flex leave.

We felt that some managers may find it difficult to put flex into practice and the CPSU NSW put it on the Joint Consultative Committee’s agenda.

Mercer followed up on this issue and conversations were held with all People Managers of employees under the enterprise agreement. By the next JCC on 20 June, it was a closed matter.

Also, the CPSU NSW had questions regarding the change in payroll/people hub roll out due on 13 August regarding leave accrual and the reconciliation of balances before the switch over, as they had presented problems in the past.

Mercer responded that they would run a diagnostic report prior to the switch, ensuring all leave balances would be correct on the transfer date.

Mercer told us that this would not be an issue with ADP, hence the switch to this system.

Individual industrial matters are not discussed at these meetings unless they have an impact on other employees at Mercer.

If you have an individual issue, the CPSU NSW can be contacted on 1300 772 679.

Our next meeting will be held on 18 September 2018.

If you have any issues or matters affecting staff in general or in your area that you would like raised at the September JCC, please contact:

The CPSUNSW would also like to remind members under the enterprise agreement that the 1.5% pay rise due on Friday 7 September will appear in the Thursday 20 September pay.

We begin enterprise bargaining for your wages and conditions again in 2019 and the CPSUNSW will need input, suggestions and identified issues from all members at Mercer.
