Just a quick update to advise that our application to the Fair Work Commission to conciliate your Enterprise Agreement was lodged last week and we are awaiting a date.
Without going into the technical aspects, conciliation essentially means a Commissioner will act as a medium between your union and MTC and help all parties find a compromise.
Obviously the prospects of success of conciliation are dependent upon MTC participating with some open-mindedness and enthusiasm to find a solution. Its response to the suggestion at the last bargaining meeting did not fill your union representatives with great hope that this would be so, but we will wait and see.
If conciliation fails there are now other legal avenues available to us to break the bargaining stalemate, courtesy of some amendments the Albanese Government made to the Act late last year.
Whatever the case and by whichever route, we are confident that an outcome can be reached that will be an improvement on the measly pickings MTC is currently tossing to you.
