CPSU NSW update: TAFE NSW Administrative Agreement Voted Up

TAFE Administrative Agreement Endorsed by Staff Vote

The CPSU NSW and Delegates Council (DC) received confirmation from TAFE NSW today of the outcome of the staff vote on the TAFE Commission of NSW Administrative, Support and Related Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023 (EA).

The EA was endorsed by 95.5% of voting employees – 3,187 employees in favour of the EA. This represents a 6.8% increase in voters from the 2022 enterprise agreement.

The CPSU NSW thanks all members who supported negotiations and voted in favour of the EA.

Next Steps

The proposed agreement will now be lodged this week with the Fair Work Commission. Once approved it will come into operation seven days after the decision is issued.

Pay Increases

TAFE NSW has provided clarification to the CPSU NSW and the Fair Work Commission on the offer of pay.

TAFE NSW is planning to pay each staff member covered by the EA:

  • A one-off payment equivalent to a 1% increase in your salary, pro-rated for the period 1 July 2023 to 18 September 2023;* and
  • A pay increase, backdated, commencing 18 September 2023.*

*calculated to the first pay days from these dates

TAFE NSW has made numerous representations that this pay increase and backpay will be provided on or by 21 December 2023.

The Future

The endorsement of the new EA was only possible with membership engagement. To win even better conditions, you need to be a member. We are stronger in numbers. Each new member increases our ability to demand better pay, flex accrual and to hold TAFE NSW accountable for poor workplace culture. The new EA has a nominal expiration time of 12 months – meaning we are back in bargaining next year and have further opportunities to better conditions.

If you endorsed the EA, speak to the CPSU NSW about joining or, if you’re currently a member, speak to colleagues about joining.

There are big things planned for next year – be a part of it!
