Your Enterprise Agreement: An update from the CPSU NSW

The Enterprise Agreement Bargaining Group met again on Wednesday 9 August 2023 to discuss proposals for a new WaterNSW Enterprise Agreement. This group comprises the combined unions including the Australian Services Union, the Australian Workers’ Union, the CPSU NSW, the Electrical Trades Union, Professionals Australia, as well as employee bargaining representatives and WaterNSW management. It is pleasing to report that in principle agreement was reached by the group on the following:

  • A three-year enterprise agreement
  • An increase of 4 per cent to base rates of pay and a 0.5 per cent increase to superannuation in each year of the agreement.
  • Back pay to 1 July 2023
  • No change to the current performance pay arrangements, with payment of up to a maximum of 3.4 per cent each year. Performance pay measures and targets will continue to be determined on an annual basis in consultation with the Peak Consultative Group.

There are still some minor drafting updates that need to be finalised and the bargaining group is currently working through these.

What happens next?

Further approvals are required prior to providing a copy of the new agreement to employees. The exact timing of this is unknown at this stage.  The Enterprise Bargaining Group will be providing you with regular updates and a more detailed timeline once this is clear.

This will include further details on the new pay increases and any back pay that may apply. Employees covered by the new WaterNSW Enterprise Agreement 2023 will need to be employed at the time the agreement becomes effective to be eligible for pay increases and any backpay.

The parties would like to acknowledge the hard work and ongoing contribution made by the members of the bargaining group in reaching this in principle agreement.
