CPSU NSW update for members in TAFE

Interest Based Bargaining: JOINT COMMUNICATION

The Interest-Based Bargaining committee (IBB) met at Ultimo TAFE on 1 and 2 August 2023 to commence bargaining for the new Enterprise Agreement.

The subject of the bargaining meetings was as follows:

Diversity and inclusion/leave

The parties discussed the importance of promoting a workplace that is inclusive and diverse. The parties discussed a number of leave categories and other entitlements that could help support their joint interests of diversity and inclusion.

This discussion included:

  • Support for working parents
  • Measures to support employee participation in community and cultural activities
  • Gender affirmation leave
  • Domestic violence leave
  • Menstruation leave
  • Regional sick leave
  • Additional support for employees going through challenging life circumstances

This was a successful discussion and the parties have agreed to start drafting several clauses that cover some of these issues. Both parties will provide some more information to further discuss other issues.

Flex time

The parties discussed challenges in implementing the flex time clause in the existing agreement. The parties discussed the varying needs and ways employees may access flexibility.

The parties have agreed to return to this topic during this bargaining round.

The parties will meet again on 14 August 2023 at Ultimo to continue bargaining.
