CPSU NSW update: University of New England Enterprise Bargaining

Bargaining continues for Professional Staff Enterprise Agreement replacement

You CPSU NSW University of New England (UNE) Bargaining Team has been hard at work negotiating and tabling amended drafting to management for a replacement Professional Staff Enterprise Agreement (EA).

Your Bargaining Team, Organisers and Industrial Staff are meeting on a regular basis to progress negotiations. The CPSU NSW Industrial Staff will be on campus once fortnight, or more frequently where possible, to meet with management team to negotiate this  agreement.

In a win for CPSU NSW members, the university has affirmed its commitment to a separate EA for Professional Staff. This will ensure that academics do not get the opportunity to vote on Professional Staff employment rights at UNE.

The last meeting was held on 21 April 2023 to discuss job security, including decasualisation, and improving procedures for major workplace change. This is vital to ensure a repeat of the university’s previous “Time for Change” process is avoided.

The next meeting is taking place on 19 May to continue to discuss major workplace change, redundancy and redeployment.

The CPSU NSW Bargaining Team will update members as negotiations progress.

Enterprise Agreement benefits for Professional Staff

Please do not hesitate to contact your CPSU NSW team to discuss the EA and catch up. Have a coffee on us on 19 May 2023 at UNE Life if you’re around!

Our Organiser Stephen Mears will be scheduling additional time to meet on campus on Thursdays prior to Friday bargaining sessions.

There are great benefits to CPSU NSW union membership including, but not limited to:

  • Journey Insurance whist travelling to and from work
  • Personal Injury Cover
  • Emergency Ambulance Cover
  • Provident Fund
  • Union Shopper

 New CPSU NSW UNE office

The UNE management team have been working with the CPSU NSW to secure a new union space in the heart of the university. Whilst renovations are not yet complete, the building is expected to be a significantly improved collaborative space where members can meet Organisers, Delegates and CPSU NSW Industrial Staff.

We will keep members posted on when the office will open.
