The PSA/CPSU NSW urges members affected by floods to remain safe.
All members are reminded to listen to the SES and other emergency services, the Bureau of Meteorology, and local ABC radio regarding weather, flood and evacuation updates.
Now is an important time to remind all members that your union has award clauses to support all workers unable to attend work in natural emergencies such as floods.
Clause 17 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Award has provisions for public service employees prevented from attending work at a normal work location because of natural emergency. Employees can apply for varied working hours, an alternate working location or to take Family and Carers’ Leave, Flex, Recreational, Extended Leave or LWOP to cover the period.
Federal system employees who have an enterprise agreement should also have provisions for special leave for severe climatic conditions.
Remember please keep safe and avoid unnecessary travel.
