Water NSW Enterprise Agreement 2021 Approved


On 7 December the Fair Work Commission approved the WaterNSW Enterprise Agreement 2021. The new Agreement will operate from 14 December 2021. As previously advised, it provides for a range of significant improvements to the current Agreement, including:

  • A 2.04 per cent pay increase, back paid to the first full pay period after 1 July.
  • Stronger Consultation Clause, using the interest-based approach to consultation.
  • Better workplace flexibility, with a new remote working clause and an emphasis on the direct leader accepting the a request for flexible working hours unless it would unreasonably effect the operations of the business.
  • Improvements to parental leave, both parents will have equal access to paid provisions. As well as paid provisions in the event of miscarriage or still birth.
  • New Health and Wellbeing clause committing WaterNSW to continually improve its policies and strategies for enabling an employee’s physical, pyscho-social, and mental safety and wellbeing while at work.
  • Improved incident roster and recall to work clauses, that acknowledge employees work/life balance.
  • New continuous improvement clause supporting professional development and registration of staff.
  • A commitment that during the life of the new Agreement that there will be a review of the remuneration structure.
  • An additional one days annual leave for those staff who have 4 weeks or less annual leave balance as at 30 June 2022, and who have taken at least 2 weeks leave.

As per the NSW Public Sector Wages Policy 2021 the Agreement will be for one year only, expiring on 30 June 2022.

Photo competition: $500 first prize!

In recognition of the essential work CPSU NSW members perform at WaterNSW, particularly during the recent rain events, the union has decided to run a photo competition.

The competition will be limited to photos taken from 1 November 2021 until 31 January 2022 of weirs, dams and waterways.

To be eligible to enter the person needs to be a fully paid up member at the time of submitting their photo.

The winning photo will be judged on its composition, as well as how it captures the aspects of the recent and current flood events while representing the essential work of WaterNSW employees.

The winner, who will be announced in the second week of February, will receive a prize of $500 towards the cost of a camera. This will be done by way of a gift voucher for JB HiFi bought through Union Shopper.

The winning photo will be published in Red Tape, and other CPSU NSW publications with the photographer clearly credited.
