Australian Unity Enterprise Agreement: CPSU NSW member briefings

Last Friday, the CPSU NSW informed members that an in-principle agreement had been reached with Australian Unity and that it was recommended that members vote yes to this offer. A broad outline of the proposal and the many factors taken into account in reaching our position on AU’s proposal was also included. Click HERE to view a copy of last week’s bulletin.

Process

The Fair Work Act requires Australian Unity to now inform those employees who are to be covered by the proposed Enterprise Agreement of all relevant information. This is known as the Access Period and lasts for seven days prior to a vote. You will be provided with a full copy of the proposed agreement and any other materials that may be incorporated into the new agreement. Australian Unity will also explain the effect of the terms of the agreement. At this stage the CPSU NSW understands that this information will be provided next Monday, 1 November.

Following this period, employees will be asked to cast a vote as to whether or not they accept the proposal. It is likely that this vote will commence around 8 November.

Member briefings

In order for members to be as fully informed as possible prior to voting, the CPSU NSW will be holding a series of online briefing session to explain the contents of the proposed agreement and to answer any of your questions. Members are encouraged to attend one of the following sessions via Microsoft Teams:

Session 1 – Wednesday 3 November, 12:00pm – 12:45pm: Click here to join meeting.

Session 2 – Wednesday 3 November, 1:00pm – 1:45pm: Click here to join meeting.

The CPSU NSW wants ALL members to engage with this process including discussing the importance of unity and collective representation with current non-members. It is only through a united from that we are able to achieve beneficial outcomes for out workers.

If you have any question about the above or any other issues, please contact the CPSU NSW.
