ConnectAbility: Joint Consultative Committee meeting

PDF version

Your CPSU NSW representatives and workplace delegates Rachel Smoothy and Gavin Dimery attended a Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) meeting on 21 April.

The following matters were discussed on behalf of members:

Leave matters

Members have identified a number of issues regarding the accrual and administration of various categories of leave. Several instances of incorrect leave accrual have now been rectified. However, the CPSU NSW has requested a wider ranging audit of this situation to identify any further errors. It is important for members to remain vigilant in monitoring their leave accrual and any other payroll issues.

Payroll adjustments

As members will be aware, ConnectAbility recently advised that any payroll adjustments that are identified under $400 in value, will be paid in the following pay run. Given such a high value, the CPSU NSW questioned the fairness of this process and it has been confirmed that where an adjustment is required as a result of an error on ConnectAbility’s part, this will be corrected immediately.

Rostering and additional hours

The CPSU NSW has received a number of reports of occasions where permanent staff are not being afforded the opportunity to pick up additional hours ahead of agency staff. ConnectAbility provided assurances that the Rostering Principles will be adhered to and members are encouraged to report any non-compliance.

Workplace surveillance policy

ConnectAbility is introducing a Workplace Surveillance policy due to the installation of security cameras at its two offices. While this policy covers more than just security cameras, the CPSU NSW continues to engage in consultation with ConnectAbility to ensure members rights are protected.

Health and safety

Discussions took place regarding the establishment of Health and Safety Representatives and/or a Health and Safety Committee. These discussions are ongoing and updates will be provided to members as this matter progresses.

If you have and concerns about the above or any other issues, please contact the CPSU NSW.
