Climate strike update – Sept 2019 (PDF version)
The PSA/CPSU NSW supports action on climate change, including this week’s Global Climate Strike.
Many of our members see the effects of climate change in their workplaces every day and feel that our governments, both state and federal, are not taking this issue seriously.
As is so often the case, it is up to everyday Australians to push for real action.
On Friday 20 September 2019, school students all across Australia and the world, will walk out of their classrooms and demand our leaders do more to safeguard the planet’s future.
There will be dozens of Global Climate Strikes taking place across Australia.
See a list of events HERE.
In Sydney, the action will focus on The Domain in the city centre from 12 noon to 2:00pm.
The PSA/CPSU NSW supports members who participate on this day. Members should keep in mind this is not an industrial strike. Therefore, members must access available flex conditions or leave to attend. Some will no doubt be able to attend during their lunchtime break.
PSA/CPSU NSW members are often on the front line, combatting the effects of climate change and we recognise the serious impact that climate change is having on all members regardless of their work. Whether it be weather extremes, increased risk of bushfires, and drought and water shortages in rural NSW.
WHERE We will meet at Hyde Park Chess Boards, just behind St James Station (Elizabeth St & Market St) at 11:30am
WHEN 11:30am in Hyde Park, Sydney or join us in The Domain between 12 noon and 2:00pm. Look for the PSA/CPSU NSW flags.
