Applying for the course

If you see something you like, please fill out the training application.

Put the date in your diary because you’re likely to be in.

You will receive your release letter approximately one month before the training date.

Getting released from work

Most PSA/CPSU NSW members are entitled to 12 days of paid trade union training leave every 2 years.

Once you receive your release letter, either submit it in your HR system, or hand it to the manager responsible if that’s your process. Make sure to apply for Special Leave.

Having trouble getting released? Contact us at and we can help.

Regional and need susso?

The PSA will not pay for overnight accommodation or sustenance unless approved prior to the course commencement. If you think you will require overnight accommodation or sustenance please email . As such we are likely to be scheduling a course near you in the future, please get in touch with your Regional Organiser to find out how to make it happen.

On the day

Most courses start at 9.30 am and finish by 5 pm.

Please advise your trainer by email if you have any special needs, as we would like to try to accommodate you. We are also offering soft-copies of training materials in order to reduce our environmental impact.

If it’s your first time and you’re feeling a bit nervous, remember that most people in the room won’t know each other either, and are probably feeling that way too. The best part of training is members getting to know each other and building on their union networks, so take advantage of it.
