Ballot Result – July 2020 (PDF version)
Dear colleagues,
Just a short note to acknowledge the outcome of last Friday’s ballot.
While we are obviously disappointed with the result, we recognise the process was genuinely democratic and we congratulate our colleagues in the NTEU for successfully prosecuting their case.
We would like to thank our CPSU NSW members and those university staff who supported the difficult position we took. As we have said, we genuinely believe it was the right call and the right thing to do.
Nevertheless, our focus must now shift to doing what we can to support our members, ensuring that staff wellbeing is paramount in all our discussions with the University.
We have spoken with management representatives and emphasised our ongoing willingness to engage in collaborative negotiations. We will continue to prioritise and fight for professional staff jobs at Southern Cross, and we expect the university to be sympathetic to the circumstances of staff as it designs and implements a change program.
Once again, a big thank you to everyone who supported us.
